FAQs

What time is drop-off and pick-up for our camper(s)?

We know that FOMO is real and campers want to arrive as early as possible at camp. It helps us as the staff to prepare and orient the counselors when campers show up no earlier than 4:15pm. If you have medication to turn in to the nurses, please arrive as early as 3:30pm to speak to the nurses.

Check out is at 12pm.

Are parents and friends able to visit campers or counselors during the week?

All campers and staff must have a completed background check in order to be on camp premises. We don’t allow parents or friends to visit camp during camp due to keeping our camp secure. You would be able to come and serve at camp (teach a yoga class, art class, chaperone some of the events, bring counselor snacks, etc.) Apply on the registration page. Thank you for your understanding in this.

Whats the deal with electronics?

Just like last year, phones will not be allowed at camp. You will be welcome to check it in at registration and receive it again at check out. We have tried to have phones at camp and it continues to be a huge distraction. Although it was a tough and new transition last year, we feel it allowed campers and counselors to be much more present and engaged throughout camp. If a camper needs to get in touch with parents, their counselor will have all parent numbers. Thank you for your understanding!

I wasn’t able to attend the parent info zoom meeting, was it recorded?

Yes! You can access the meeting recording HERE! with this PASSCODE: D8m6y8M!

I want to be a counselor. How do I go about doing that?

We truly have the BEST counselors! Please coordinate with your church leader if you would like to serve as a counselor this year.

Can I find out who my kids’ counselor is before camp?

Our counselor ratio is 5 teens per counselor. You are welcome to inquire (write your point of contact) about who your child’s counselor is a couple of weeks prior to camp, however it is subject to change leading up to camp. Registration for campers ends one month prior so we spend most of June/July placing counselors with the groups and training our counselors and can be subject to switching groups based off of need. However, all counselors come from a church in good standing, recommended by their leaders. They go through a training and pass a background check.

What ages can go to camp?

All kids entering 6th grade through 12th grade in the fall of 2024!

What are the theme nights this year?

MONDAY: Classic Country

Break out your boots, belt buckles, cowboy/girl hats and big hair!

TUESDAY: 90s Night

Tuesday night we are throwing back to the 90s! Pick your favorite fashion style from the 90s and come prepared to flaunt your fit.

WEDNESDAY: Castaway!

You were shipwrecked on a deserted island with no one in sight! After several years of living on your island, you are finally saved by a cruise ship that sees your SOS! Dress up how you would look after years of brutal, deserted island survival.

THURSDAY: Royalty

The Kings and Queens have arrived! Come prepared to walk the red carpet to your throne of victory as you defend your kingdom! Think crowns, capes and jewels!

Do you give discounts?

Sadly and unfortunately, no. Sometimes, we will have generous sponsors donate full registrations that we can use to help campers in need. We will keep you posted if there are any.

Our best suggestion is start saving early. Look out for fundraising opportunities in your area or better yet, start one!

What is the refund policy?

We are able to refund the total amount minus the processing fees if we receive notification by June 15th. Any notification after the June 15th, will not be able to receive a refund. We do majority of our planing and prepping for camp (from a financial point of view) before this time so if you are unable to attend camp after this date, the money has already been spent to have your child there.

Please email: scoceventscoordinator@gmail.com if you need to request a refund prior to June 15.

Tell me more about camp mail…

Camp mail is a great opportunity to encourage your camper during the week and it is completely OPTIONAL. As a staff, we do not deliver mail on Sunday (1st day) or Friday (last day). A staff member will drop off mail in the afternoon on Monday through Thursday. Please address any mail with their registered name and grade. Snail mail is also accepted at Warm Beach Conference center. Please be sure to write in c/o NWYC. Be sure though to only pack individual packaged items or snacks for your camper.

Oh and one more thing. We provide 2 snack “canteens” each day during the week. That is part of your registration. We highly suggest to not send your campers a ton of sugar because they don’t get mail until the late afternoon. By the time they open it, its late into the night and well, let’s just say that doesn’t go well for REM sleep cycles.

Help! Something is wrong with my registration!

No problem! Please email scoceventscoordinator@gmail.com.

Bunking with friends?!

Each grade will be assigned to the same cabin. For example: 6th grade boys will bunk with 6th grade boys, 7th grade boys with 7th grade boys, and so on. Some of the cabins can house the whole grade, others will be broken up into couple of cabins depending on the size of the group and where we are able to put them. Our best advice for kids if they want to share a bunk with a particular friend from the same grade is to find that friend after the register and walk together to their cabin so they can find a bunk together. When everyone arrives, first thing they do is register. Once they register, they will be directed to their cabin to drop off their belongings. We suggest people can coordinate with a buddy to register at the same time so they can make their way over to their cabin together. Most are able to bunk with who they want to. We don’t assign beds or particular cabins for them. They pick when they get there.

Unfortunately, we can’t have kids bunk with a friend who is in a different grade. However, they will be able to see their friend during free time! We have several hours every day with free time that they can hang out with their friends.
